Hello there! I’m Simon Zirkunow, a self-employed graphic designer living in the Frankfurt am Main area in Germany. As co-founder of the design studio Lichtsignale, I work in both print and digital with a strong focus on typography. I am passionate about design and the projects I work on.
When it comes to design, this is what I believe in, even though the composer Hans Zimmer put it best first: “I’ve spent my life trying to make things simpler. Because I find ultimately that complicated doesn’t reach the heart.”
I am working within a small team on we_search, a public online-platform for publication, research and dialog within the design reasearchers’ community.
I wrote a book on the history of graphic design as my master’s thesis. It’s still used as the main reading material for the design history course at my alma mater.
I was invited by my alma mater to be on a jury of four designers. We discussed the graduates’ work and awarded the four best ones with a Konstanz Design Price.
As a design student, I organized the lecture series “KD Lounge” in Konstanz, designed the posters and set up an online archive for the talks.
